Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells altered book

I am so lucky to have such wonderful things to play with designing for the Fruit Pixie but I think the Graphic 45 Steampunk spells papers are one of my favourite.

As you can probably tell by my blog I do like my projects and Altered art, so I just had to do something big with this paper line just to show how wonderful it is.

So here it is, my Steampunk spells altered book with a surprise at the end!!

Thank you for ploughing through this long post :)  For full step by step tutorial go over to the Fruit Pixie Blog.

All the Graphic 45 Steampunk spells paper line is available at The Fruit Pixie online shop.

Kyrsty Scap Design has a new kit out called Decapatated! You can pick it up on https://www.deviantscrap.com/shop/product.php?productid=21434&cat=249&page

I had such fun with this kit, along with some of the things from Kyrsty's other kits, to make this cut and paste collage. You wouldn't want to mess with any of these girls though, would you??

Graphic 45 Steampunk spell wreath

I have been having a ball playing with the Graphic 45 Steampunk Spell paper line for The Fruit Pixie!

My first project, just to prove it doesn't have to be all Halloweeny, is a lovely Autumn wreath using the paper flowers.

If you would like to know how I made this then pop over to the Fruit Pixie blog for instructions.

Hotel Hell projects

I am proud it say I have become a new designer with Kyrsty Scrapbook Designs. A talented digital kit designer who sells her kits through Deviant Scrap. I will be working on more mixed media projects for her as there are far more talented designers on her team that make amazing digital scrapbook pages.

My first kit is a very spooky one and part of a collaboration of 15 of the Deviant Scrap designers. Here is the kit I worked with.

This is a little treat bag I made using the backing papers and some of the elements in the kit

and here is my collage using the wonderful skull and some of the other elements in the kit too

Keisercraft Needle and thread scrapbook layout

My Mum has always enjoyed cloths and as a young woman went to evening classes to learn dress making. I have lots of old photos of her in her latest outfit so the new papers from Keisercraft were perfect for a layout using some of the photos.

I used one of the 12x12 papers as the background

Then some of the Collectables, which are chipboard pieces, to frame the photos.

The Tim Holtz alterations die Sewing room just went perfectly with it, more collectables were used here too.

Then of course I had to add some hand stitching as a finishing touch.

All these products can be bought from The Fruit Pixie online shop.

Keisercraft Needle and thread tin lid tag

I have been known in my family for years now for using tin lids as decorations on my Christmas tree. They are great surfaces to decorate and make lovely tags and decorations.

Here is one I have made for the Fruit Pixie online shop using the Keisercraft  Needle and Thread collection collectables available from The Fruit Pixie online shop.

AJC Port of call 8 Greece page

I can't believe how quickly this year is going, we are almost at the end of Port of call 8 on the Art Journal Caravan. This month, August, we have been in Greece.

As I used to be a nurse I immediately thought of Hippocraes and the Hippocratic oath. With out him where would we be today?

So here is my Hybrid mixed media page. I used a transfer technique to transfer the oath in Greek onto the page and the Greek key borders are from a stencil cut by my fair hand. The background is painted like marble using acrylic paint.

Birthday cards

A couple of different birthday cards for my neighbours. The first is for my neighbour Lucy who loves Guinea Pigs, so as soon as I saw  this image in one of the new Daisy Trail digital kits I just had to use it for her birthday card. I added a party hat and used an embossing folder for the background

The second one is for her Mum Christine who's birthday is 2 days later. For this one I used my Pan Pastels for all the colour and then used my dies to cut the bird and leaves.

Ruby Rocket Cook collection magnetic menu board

This is another project I have made for The Fruit Pixie using the Ruby Rocket Cook collection

The inspiration for this came from a menu planner I saw on Pinterest. Just the thing I needed as every night hubby and I ask each other the same old question     "What shall we have for tea? " and you always get the same answer " I don't know !"  So now with this wonderful idea that question is a thing of the past................. well that's the idea! :)
So if you go through a similar thing then this could be the project for you, there is a step by step photo tutorial over on the Fruit Pixie website.

AJC Hollywood journal page

For July the Art Journal caravans port of call was the USA.  One of the first things I think of when I think of the USA is Hollywood and I LOVE my old Hollywood films.

So this Hybrid mixed media page is my celebration of the golden age of Hollywood.

Dies storage book

I thought I only had a few small thin dies until I decided to make a die storage book using the Ruby Rocket cook papers and plastic CD pockets for the Fruit Pixie.

The great thing about the sticks 2 magnetic sheets (which comes in A4, I cut them up to fit the pockets) is that they are magnetic on one side to store your dies,

the other is to store your stamps.

I also labelled the pockets and used some more of the Ruby Rocket paper, which is double sided, to make some dividers to easily find the die I want.

So now my dies are safe and organised! Its a great project to make too.

All the papers and chipboard pennants are from Ruby Rocket and are available from The Fruit Pixie.

Ruby Rocket VE Day scrapbook layout

Whilst rooting around in my old family photos I re- recovered this wonderful photo of my Mum ( then a teenager ) and her Mum ( my nan ) at their VE day party. I had to scrap this photo and I knew just what to use.

The Fruit Pixie sells the perfect Ruby Rocket Vintedge collection, which gave me this lovely layout and is all, except the letters, are available from The Fruit Pixie.

AJC Page - RAMC

For my second page for the AJC India port of call I just had to do a page about my Uncle. He served as a ward orderly for the RAMC ( Royal Army Medical Corps ) in India. He is a big part me and my sisters life and we have grown up hearing about his adventures in such a foreign land. Stories like pockets filled with so many red fire ants he thought it was fur lined! Vultures that swooped down and pinched the breakfast from his tray as he crossed from the kitchen to the dinning room tent and just the other week he told me about a huge tornado that came and took the verandahs and sides off of a brand new hospital he was guarding!

Ruby Rocket Cook collection projects

I love Ruby Rocket and am lucky that The Fruit Pixie who I design for stocks it. This time I have been using their Cook collection and have come up with these 2 quick and easy little projects. All the products are available from http://www.thefruitpixie.co.uk/index.asp

This sweet little card is made with the Ruby Rocket Cook paper and some of the shapes from the die cut pack.

This accordion book is made using the papers and die cut shapes form the die cut pack.

Inside I have hidden another mini tag book, great for adding family recipes.

I thought this would make a nice gift for a friend or keen cook or perhaps someone who is about to leave home for University or is getting married as it would be a fun way to pass on your family secret recipes!

To find instruction on how I made my book and card pop over to the Fruit Pixie blog-  http://thefruitpixie.blogspot.co.uk/

Holi festival journal page

In June the AJC port of call was India. So for my first page I celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi. It looks so much fun, in March people buy bags of coloured powders from the markets. They then throw them at their friends and family! So everyone spends the day covered in bright colours and having great fun!

So in the spirit of the festival of Holi I too had great fun throwing paint and ink at my journal. I must admit I am rather pleased with the finished result.

I can't believe we are half way through the year on our AJC. I am really enjoying it and am proud of myself I have got this far as last year life forced me to give up in the April.

China Blue scrapbook layouts

The Ruby Rocket China Blue collection from the Fruit Pixie is great for scrapbooking and so I put together these 2 layouts using photos from our Austria holidays as the papers always remind me of Austria somehow. Full instructions and a list of all the things I used can be found on the Fruit Pixie Blog.
