Noel twins art dolls

My Google group is holding an art doll swap and someone mentioned a vintage Christmas doll would be nice, that captured my imagination and I couldn't wait to start.I had the perfect kit from K & co and used the tags for their skirt and the matching paper for their tops. Here they are the Noel twins, Holly and Joy all ready to travel to the other side of the pond for Christmas !

S for Suffragetts

The S challenge was shinny, a bit of a challenge for me as I don't use many shinny things. So I used gold embossing powder to form the words and around the page and slithers of mica over the picture to add some proper shine.

R for Romans

The challenge for the R page was to use rubbish or anything you would normally throw away, so the background I have had for years, it was the packaging for some Christmas cakes from M&S. The paper was a piece I almost threw away from my note book which I stained with my tea bag from my mourning cuppa. The words are cut from the TV listings book, boy was I lucky there was a character called Roman in one of the soaps at the moment! The thing that has taken literally weeks to find were the words ever and done, in the end I found them in my book pages I had taken out from a book I altered. Finally the ribbon isn't ribbon but the plastic sash that kept my hoover bags together in their box and a coke can ring pull to finish it off !!

P for photography

The P challenge was to use texture paste, so I slapped it on for the background and painted two of my Moonglow stains over the top, added the mount and photo of Miss Ruth Hanaley March 20th 1915 !

I for inventors

I have been catching up with my missing I page for my A-Z journal. I was tied to the settee with my foot up when the ink challenge was set and thought it was best saved until I was back in my craft room again, it has taken me this long to get to it !! I used the shaving foam technique using acrylic ink to make the background then stamped the inventors title and the pointing hand.

Eye Guys

the ATC theme this week in my google group altereddesigns is eyes. I was inspired by the advertising for a new TV station here in the UK to play with eyeballs and came up with these cute guys. They are totally addictive and I have loads of plans for my new friends. I think it could of been too much Pepsi and sour sweets !!!!!

Jigsaw ATC swap

I have just hosted an ATC swap on Alternative. This time we used a slightly different shape, a jigsaw shape. It was an open theme and everyone came up with fantastic cards. Here are mine

Slider card

It was my friend Carrolls Birthday over the weekend and as she is a super doper card maker I had to think of something a bit more impressive than your normal card, so I found instructions on the net to make a slider card. I used the textured rub on kit from QVC to decorate it. I am pleased to report she was impressed with it !

Door ATC

This weeks theme in my Google group was doors, so here is my door ATC. I took the picture whilst on holiday in Sidmouth in May. I must admit I have a thing for taking pics of doors and windows so I couldn't let the door theme go by with out using one of my many door pic !

Dr Who album

My youngest nephew is a huge massive fan of Dr Who and so as a surprise day trip for his birthday we took him on the train over to Cardiff, the home of Dr Who , to the Dr Who exhibition. I am a fan of the show too but for Andrew it was just another excuse to take the camera and get some photos and of course I couldn't let a day like that go by with out making an album for him to keep to remind him of his day. Carroll had tough us how to make a Flip Flop album at the last crop and it fitted the job perfectly, along with some space paper and stickers, great photos and cute little space aliens and spaceship Quickuts. I had a great time making it and my nephew loved his present !

We have reached the O page in our A-Z journal and the challenge was to be outrageous !!! So what is more outrageous than a flying butterfly bus clone ??!! I just loved playing with this one, got out my favourite watercolour wax crayons to make the background and sky line, found a nice red bus in Google images and in my collection of images a nice butterfly to cut the wings of( hehehe ! )
My Hubby actually loved this and said it could be the next Flaming Lips album cover ! For me that is a huge compliment as I LOVE the Lips !!

N for Nursing

The N page for my A-Z journal was for Nurses, well they had to come into it somewhere as I used to be one. I found this wonderful image I just had to use but struggled a bit with the needles challenge. In fact this is mark 2 as I totally ruined the first one when I tried to machine round the outside, so I just settled for the pin pricking I did along the top of the mount ( don't look too closely its not that hot ) and a bit of a cheat but the lace must of been made by a needle ?????!!!!!

Sky scraper ATC

This weeks challenge on TMTATC was architecture. I just love the retro look of the skyscrapers in New York that were built in the early 1900's and so chose the Empire State to use this week. Thanks to TMTATC I can use the German instructions to get ready for the new term for my German course. I always check though that I've got the right end of the stick though !!!

M for Medicine

We have got to M in our A-Z journal and the challenge was to use mosaic. My M was for medicine and so I used the Hippocratic oath to cut up and mosaic the background with the image of Hippocrates, the father of medicine. Then the boarder from the same paper as the background to say medicine.

Dapper Gent 50th Birthday card

We were invited to my hubby's cousins surprise 50th birthday last weekend and so I had to make the card everyone dreads, a mans card for a special birthday ! He is a professional musician so I thought he would understand a more unusual style card than the norm and I thought of the wonderful paper dolls that are on the Joanna Sheen Fashion Boutique CD rom. I must admit I was very pleased with how it turned out and loved making it, cutting out all those great fashions of the 20's and 30's !

Memory books

My two Nephews went to Disney USA and I wanted to make them something to keep all those little bits and bobs you pick up on holiday when you are 9 and 11. So here is what I came up with for them, a little book with lots of pockets to hid things in and paper for characters autographs or what ever they wanted. I had great fun designing and making them, just wish I had thought of it earlier, only had afternoon to make them in !!! They had a great time and loved their books too

L is for Literacy

Here is the latest page for my A-Z journal, L is for Literacy. The challenge for this letter was layering and so I pasted a layer of book pages onto card then using masking tape pulled some off and also rubbed some off too. I then added another layer and did the same but this time used a different type of book page. Next layer was using my Moonglow paper dyes, three colours, then added a paint stamped A B C and the books for the Tim Holtz papers and the words round the edge put on with safmat.

K is for Kings

The K challenge for our A-Z journal on Alternative was Kaleidoscope or repeated pattern so as I had to do Kings I had just the new stamp to use ! Using regal colours I painted a watered down red wash and then using the same colour from the pot stamped with foam stamps on top. Then using my new crown stamp down the side. Mounted Richard 3rd onto gold card stamped with gold paint added a German scrap strip under his pic and then added the rub ons.

The Eyes ATC

This weeks theme on TMTATC was eyes, I had a new set of stamps from paper artsy that fitted the bill perfectly. I hadn't played with my alcohol inks for a while so got those out to make the background for the eye and text and then just added a slide mount. A bit different to my usual style but I think I like it !

Snow ATC

I made this ATC for the bingo game in my Google group Altered Designs, only trouble is I missed the deadline !! Oh well I can keep this one !

Monday challenge

Each Monday in my Google group they set a Monday challenge, an image with which you make a piece of art. This time was the first time I had managed to get one done. I used 4x4 for the first time and liked what the extra size from an ATC size allows you to do. The challenge image was the lady and I added the racing background from Google images to a watercolour background.

3 ATCs

I have been busy making ATCs this week. The subject for this weeks mingle in my Google group , altered designs, was Old people and so I made my "wise woman" ATC to be swapped. Then there was a competition for a vintage ATC in the same group which I thought I would ave a go at and produced the "vintage style " ATC for that. The third is one I have made from some of the Artchicks kit I sent for from the States.

Nephews Birthday card

It was my youngest nephews Birthday on Monday. As he is mad keen on all sorts of Sci-fi but loves Lego Star wars I managed to find some great images on Google images and made him this card, which he loved !

The J challenge was to use journaling in your piece or some sort of words. So here it is, image from Google images, I just love the way he is sat holding the crown!

Foot Card

I actually get my stitched out of my ankle tomorrow!!! Almost 3 weeks with my foot up! Some how I don't think it will end here, it still has a long way to go but it will be one step to towards the end, thank god for my love of cutting and sticking stuff as my Hubby calls it!

So I have to go back to the hospital and see my consultant Mr Harries so I thought I would make him an appropriate card.

and this one

Beach Babes altered book

I had begun this altered book months ago but then it had been put aside to collect more things together so when I wanted something small to work on on my lap it fitted the bill perfectly.I had already prepared the book and done the cover by using a transfer technique with a piece of 12x12 paper and then added some gesso to give it the washed look, so all that was needed was to do the inside.Because I was on the settee I didn't want to use paints so all the backgrounds are done either using H2o's, watercolours with a water brush or my new fave toy my water soluble wax crayons. Well here it is
