Button Heart

As us girls know Valentines day is just around the corner and so I have been drawn to make heart shaped things!

I began with this project for the Fruit Pixie, a button heart made with the wonderful button mixes Sarah Jane sales, finished off with one of the Romantic word tiles, glued onto a background from the 7Gypsies Trousseau collection. A sweet quick and easy project for Valentines day. Why not have a go! All the things I used are available from The Fruit Pixie online shop.

AJC Bristolian journal page

The port of call this month with the AJC, is the UK and as it is my home I thought it was important to do something about my home city Bristol. Now I grew up in a small town 9 mile outside Bristol called Nailsea, although I was born in Bristol, so I don't have a Bristolian accent but I do use the dialect words all the time. I must admit dialect words do fascinate me so I have journalled a few for my page.

The page is a hybrid mixed media page, I used Paperartsy Fresco paint for the background, the lettering was done with a dip pen and india ink. The alpha is by Tumblefish studio and the cat and snowflake by Holliewood designs.

Resist technique tags

I learnt a new technique the other day and just couldn't wait to try it. So here are my resist technique tags made for The Fruit Pixie. Both tags are made out of The PaperArtsy smoothy card and have been cut using the Tim Holtz Tag and Book plate die.

I then placed a template over the tag and applied Eco Green Artist medium Gloss using a credit card type thing, remove the template carefully and leave to dry. I then had a surprise  I had tried it with another Gloss medium and had got a nice smooth effect but with the Eco Green one on the smoothy card gave me a lovely crackle effect!!

I then used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic to colour this tag

For this tag I wanted a different look so used Cosmic Shimmer Chalk misters.

To finish off the first tag I firstly cut the little frame from the Tag die out of card and then the gold wrapper from a Galaxy chocolate bar ( they cut beautifully so a good excuse to eat chocolate whilst
crafting ) and stuck them together. The bottle is a medium Creative Expressions glass vile which I have squirted in some Imaginations crafts magi Glits Gel and tied a tiny Jewellery tag around the top . The bingo card, butterfly, doily and border are all from Kaisercraft Miss Match Bingo cards and Collectables.

For tag 2 I made a flower using the Tattered Flowers and leaves dies from Tim Holtz to cut the Creative Expressions Kraft Twistwrap paper. This is fun stuff to use and sculpts nicely so is great for flowers and leaves. You can also colour it, I used Imagination crafts silkies. Then add the word using Tim Holtz Typeset alphabet strip die and a button to finish.

All these products are available from The Fruit Pixie on-line shop, where I am the resident design elf! :)

Art Journalling tags

Another new challenge in the AJC is something called Poetic licence. Tangie has given us over 400 words and then every week she issues a group of numbers that correspond with the words and we then have to make something out of them. Well I love things like that but knew I just wouldn't have time to do a journal pages  as well as my other AJC journalling so I needed some thing quick and easy to do. I came up with a tag book! So I cut a tag from my Tim Holtz die and produced this -

Tiny Passport

A fun new part of the AJC this year is Tangy is issuing passport stamps along the way. So of course I wanted my own AJC passport to keep them all in.

I scanned in my passport pages ( not sure it is exactly legal but I expect they will let me craft in prison)  and then made up a little book. I then print my stamps on a product by Letraset called Safmat and I can then cut them out and stick them into my book and it looks as if they have been stamped in. Great fun!

7 Gypsies paper doll

Meet Nellie, my paper doll made for The Fruit Pixie using 7 Gypsies Trousseau collection. I had wanted to make a paper doll with these papers as soon as I saw them, the wonderful photos on the papers are just perfect as a start for your doll.

To help me with size and scale I use the Artistic Stamper Art doll stamp set, large but then I alter the shape to give me the look I want. I went for the Edwardian look to match the paper style but the world is your oyster!!

I also used - Small brads to form her joints. Imaginations crafts silkies for her shoes, I used the Turquoise lave from the Persian velvet set. Craftime Enchanted ribbon bows and little pearls. The button flower is from the fantastic bright button collection. All these products are available from The Fruit Pixie.

New Year, New AJC!

I can't believe it has been almost a month since my last post! I did go to Austria for a week just before Christmas and then came Christmas and New Year but now I am back on track again.

I have decided I wanted to do another year of the Art Journal Caravan ( only got as far as April last year then life got the better of me) I have more free art time now and so I hope I can do the whole thing.

So this is my first page, hybrid of course, the letter page, well a postcard this time for me. My new word and passport stamp is included and as we are off around the world this time in our art journals I decided on a travel theme.
